Switching the screen image
Press
fn+f4
to switch the screen image among display devices connected to the system. For example,
if a monitor is connected to the computer, pressing
fn+f4
alternates the screen image from computer
display to monitor display to simultaneous display on both the computer and the monitor.
Pressing
fn+f4
provides the following list of modes:
●
Internal display only—Only the internal display is active, and all other attached displays are
disabled.
●
Clone—The internal display and one external display are enabled.
●
Extended—The internal display and all available attached displays are enabled in extended
desktop mode. The internal display is the primary display, and each active external display is a
separate extended desktop display.
●
Internal panel only—The internal display is disabled, one external display is the primary desktop,
and each additional active external display is a separate extended desktop.
Pressing
fn+f4
once moves to the next mode in the list. To activate the selected mode, press
enter
. To
cancel the mode change, click on a blank area of the computer desktop.
NOTE:
Using
fn+f4
to switch the screen image among display devices is only available when two or
fewer displays are active. On select computer models, you can reduce the number of active displays to
two or less by right-clicking on the desktop, selecting ATI Catalyst Control Center (select models only),
and then following the on-screen instructions.
Most external monitors receive video information from the computer using the external VGA video
standard. The
fn+f4
hotkey can also alternate images among other devices receiving video information
from the computer.
The following video transmission types, with examples of devices that use them, are supported by the
fn+f4
hotkey:

LCD (computer display)
●
External VGA (most external monitors)
●
DisplayPort (high-performance monitor or projector)
