REPORT Function
The REPORT function of the utility program allows you to create a report on disk of the
ACL contents. It reports only tape cartridges in valid slots, not in the CAP or in a tape
drive.
Syntax:
Run
Examples:
Run $SYSTEM.ELMM.INTFACE /NAME/ REPORT
$SYSTEM.OUTPUT.TAPELIST $SYSTEM.ELMM
Run $SYSTEM.ELMM.INTFACE /NAME/ REPORT SCREEN $SYSTEM.ELMM
REPORT is the function
$SYSTEM.OUTPUT.TAPELIST is the output file. This can be any
valid fully qualified filename.
SCREEN is the output location. Will display data to screen.
$SYSTEM.ELMM is the NonStop System location of the ELMM
software. This can be any valid NonStop System
$volume.subvolume. This function could be embedded in a TACL
routine to set tape status in DSM/TC to scratch.
The problem:
DSM/TC does not understand tape libraries. It assumes any tape cartridge with a
status of SCRATCH is a valid tape cartridge to be called up on a tape drive. If that tape
cartridge is not in the ACL, there will be a problem with that tapemount.
The Solution:
DSM/TC does allow for an intermediate state called RELEASED. What this will allow is
for tape cartridges, once expired, to not go directly to SCRATCH. They go into this
intermediate state. DSM/TC will NOT call these up for use until they are in scratch
status. Keep only the SCRATCH tape cartridges in the ACL and other tape cartridges
in RELEASED state in outside tape racks.
Enter RELEASED tape cartridges into the ACL and then set them to scratch. Use the
ELMM utility program.
1. Create a list of tape cartridges to enter, based on your company's requirements.
2. The operator pulls the tape cartridges.
