8.3 Cable compensation
This chapter must be observed only if no ROTRONIC display instrument is used for the evaluation.
The integrated cable compensation circuit enables a connection cable up to 100 m long to be used
without influencing the measuring signal.
a) 7-pin Tuchel connector
The connection from the probe to the indicating instrument requires 5
conductors (5-core or 4-core cable + shield). In the 4-core + shield cable
type, the shield is used for the common ground "GND".
For the cable compensation to function, the compensation "0" must be
connected with the common ground "GND" on the load-side socket
(display, controller, transducer).
If the five-core cable is prolonged with a five-core cable but concluding
with a 4-pin connector, one can connect to this the compensation "0" with
the common ground "GND". In this case the cable compensation acts in
the five-core cable up to the 4-pin connector.
b) 4-pin Cannon connector with cable
The cable compensation is effective up to the connector.
d) 4-pin Tuchel connector
The cable compensation is not effective in this case.
