1.1.4 Categories
The Basic and Advanced versions of the magnetic level Indicator are designed for ATEX
applications when the appropriate option is selected (type code *F41**1**********************).
Category 1 Category 1 Category 1 Category 1
The measuring chamber is installed in hazardous areas requiring Category 1 G equipment.
Category 1 G equipment has the features that follow:
• The measuring chamber does not have adhesive labels.
• The indicator column cannot be equipped with the Plexiglas ® anti-freeze cover option.
The measuring chamber is suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres of all
flammable substances in Gas Groups IIC.
Category 1/2 Category 1/2 Category 1/2 Category 1/2
The inner surface of the measuring chamber is in hazardous areas requiring Category 1
equipment. The outer surface of the measuring chamber is in hazardous areas requiring
Category 2 equipment. If the measuring chamber is for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
of all flammable substances in Gas Groups IIC, category 1/2 G equipment has the features that
follow:
• The measuring chamber has adhesive labels.
• The indicator column cannot be not equipped with the Plexiglas ® anti-freeze cover option.
If the measuring chamber is for use in potentially explosive atmospheres of all flammable
substances in Gas Groups IIB, category 1/2 G equipment has the features that follow:
• The measuring chamber has adhesive labels.
• The indicator column can be equipped with the Plexiglas ® anti-freeze cover option.
INFORMATION!
The measuring chamber can also be installed in hazardous areas requiring Category 2 or
Category 3 equipment.
