1. WhentheHandleislowered,theBladeGuardraisesautomatically.WhentheHandleisraisedthe
BladeGuardreturnstoitssafetyposition.KeephandsclearoftheBladewhentheHandleis
lowered.NeverinterferewiththepropermovementoftheBladeGuard.
2. Therearelockingmechanismsforthemiterangle.UnlocktheTabletosetthemiterangle,then
re-lockitbeforemakingthecut.
3. TorotatetheTable,loosentheMiterLockHandle,rotatetheTabletothedesiredangle,thentighten
theMiterLockHandle.NotchesaremachinedintotheBaseofthetoolwhichwilllocktheTableinto
severaloftenusedmiterangles.Theseanglesare0º(centered),5º,10º,15º,20º,25º,30º,35º,40º
and45ºleftandright.
4. Tomakeabevelcut,releasetheBevelLockLever,rotatetheBladeAssemblytothedesiredbevel
angle,thenlocktheBladeAssemblyinplaceusingtheBevelLockLever.Formakingbevelcuts
seepage16.
5. ThissawisprovidedwithaKerfBoard.TheKerfBoardhelpstopreventtear-outonthebottomside
oftheworkpiece.TheKerfBoardisfactoryadjustedpriortoshipmentofthistoolsothebladedoes
notcontacttheKerfBoardduringnormaloperation,includingbevelcuts.AdjustmentoftheKerf
Boardandtechniquestopreventtear-outareonpage16.
6. Beforestartingwork,checktheaccuracyoftheGuideFence,miterangleandbevelangle.See
pages16and17forcheckingandadjustingtheseangles.
7. Itisveryimportantthattheworkpiecebeproperlysupportedbeforemakingacut.Thematerial
mustbelevelontheTable.Thematerialmustbesupportedonbothends.UsingtheWorkPiece
ExtensionSupportsisdiscussedbelow.
Work Piece Extension Supports Use
1. TheWorkPieceExtensionSupportsareinsertedintoeachsideoftheTable,andlockedinplace
usingthescrews.
2. Whenproperlyinstalled,theupperfaceoftheworkpieceextensionsupportsarelevelwiththe
Table,andprovideawidersupportsurfacefortheworkpiece.
3. AlwayssupporttheworkpiecetobelevelwiththeTable,andsothatafterthecutismadethe
cutoffpieceswillnotfall.Youmayneedtousesawhorsesorothersupports(notincluded)to
supporttheworkpiece.
4. Iftheworkpieceisnotlevel,youwillmakeanunintentionalbevelcutinthematerial.Ifthework
pieceisnotsupported,itwillbindthebladeandmaycausethematerialtokickback,potentially
causinginjury.
