ITEM 70712 OPERATOR’S MANUAL 11
Fig. 1
1. Tools/equipment with three wire grounding plugs (Fig. 1, A) are intended for use on a circuit
that has an outlet that looks like the one illustrated (Fig. 1, B).
2. A temporary adapter (Fig. 1, D) may be used to connect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle (Fig.
1, C) if a properly grounded outlet is not available.
3. The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet can be installed
by a qualified electrician.
4.
The green colored rigid ear, lug, etc. extending from the adapter must be connected to a
permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box (Fig. 1, C).
Extension Cord Guidelines
Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to
use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause
a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. The table below shows the
correct size to be used according to cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the
next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.
