2.0 STARTUP AND SYSTEM INSTALLATION
2.1 Normal Startup
Normally, when the unit is powered on, the following display sequence takes place:
x All of the display segments turn on one at a time, and then off one at a time.
x “HAWK” is briefly displayed.
x The Version/Issue number of the monitor software is displayed. This number should be
included with any reports of faulty or unexpected system operation.
x The sensor numbers of all previously learned sensors are displayed in sequence as initial
communication with each sensor takes place.
x The normal operating display starts with the ground speed function active.
It may occur that an error is detected on start-up. In that case the sequence is slightly modified
as described in the section on Start-up Error Messages.
2.2 Special Startup
There are two types of special actions that can be controlled when starting up the unit.
1. START SENSOR CONFIGURATION LEARN: This allows a new sensor configuration to
be learned, with the existing configuration cleared from memory.
2. RESET SETTINGS: All stored settings, such as pulses per revolution values, alarm
points, etc. are restored to their factory default values. All areas are also zeroed.
The two actions can be selected independently or together by holding down certain key
combinations when the unit is turned on, as follows:
OK and DOWN:
FORCED LEARN of all sensors (other settings retained)
OK and MODE:
RESET SETTINGS (sensor configuration retained)
OK and DOWN and MODE:
BOTH FORCED LEARN and RESET SETTINGS
It is a good practice to do the “3 key” startup when configuring a brand new unit.
