Introduction
The Energy Transfer - Flywheel Accessory (ET-8773) is used for demonstrating the storage
of rotational kinetic energy in a flywheel. The flywheel can be used with either a pulley or
gearing accessory for the study of energy transfer (i.e. gravitational to rotational) or rotational
inertia. Mounted to the flywheel are a rotating shaft, which acts like a pulley, and an inertia
disk.
Equipment Setup
To fasten the flywheel to the ET-Generator (Figure 1), remove the pulley from the generator
and slide the flywheel over the shaft. Use a knurled nut to hold the flywheel in place. With
an O-ring belt, the flywheel can be attached to the ET-8775 Gearing Accessory (Figure 2).
For suggested experiments and applications with the flywheel, see the manual provided with
the ET-8771 Energy Transfer - Generator. Also see the instruction sheet provided with the
ET-8775 Gearing Accessory.
