Quick Start
1.
Connect the Broad Spectrum Light Sensor to your
PASPORT interface.
2.
If you are using a computer, connect the interface to it and
start DataStudio.
3.
Press or click the start button to begin recording data.
Introduction
The Broad Spectrum Light Sensor is designed for use with the
PASCO OS-8539 Educational Spectrophotometer System and
OS-8544 Prism Spectrophotometer Kit. The Broad Spectrum
Light Sensor has a spectral response ranging from near infrared
through visible light.
Assembly
1.
Follow the instruction provided with the OS-8544 kit to
assemble the spectrophotometer.
2.
Use the metal handle (included with the spectrophotometer)
to attach the Broad Spectrum Light Sensor to the arm of the
spectrophotometer.
Note: Use the metal handle included with the spectrophotometer (not the
plastic handle included with the sensor) in order to electrically ground the
sensor.
3.
Connect the PASPORT extension cable (included) to the sen-
sor.
4.
Connect the other end of the PASPORT extension cable to
your PASPORT interface.
Zeroing the Sensor
Press the TARE button on the sensor to set the present reading to
zero. During this step, the sensor must connected to a pow-
ered-on interface, but it is not necessary to be recording data.
Using the Sensor with the
Prism Spectrophotometer
Follow the instructions provided with the OS-8544 kit to acquire
data with the spectrophotometer.
