Msd alternate action switch

Warning: During installation, disconnect the battery cables. When Disconnecting, always
remove the Negative cable first and install it last.
The MSD Alternate Action Switch is designed to be used in conjunction with NASCAR’s amendment
rule regarding an auxiliary ignition On/Off button, 20 – 6.6. The MSD Switch can be used as either a
Normally Open or Normally Closed position.

indicator Light: A light can easily be installed to illuminate when ignition system is turned off through
the alternate action switch. See Figure 1.

2 –GP15K Diode
normally Closed: GM Heavy Duty Ignition Controls do not have a White wire input so this Switch must
be run in a Normally Closed position on the small Red wire. This is the 12 volt On/Off
wire for the Ignition. When the button is pressed, the Red wire will be opened shutting
off the ignition. See Figure 2.
normally Open: It is recommended to run the Switch in a Normally Open position. The Switch will be
wired into the White wire of the MSD Ignition and to ground. When the button is pressed, the White
wire will be grounded, killing the ignition. See Figure 1.
note: A GP15K diode must be in line on each white wire before the switch. If the diode is not installed damage
to the ignitions will occur. The diode must be installed with the stripe (or band) towards the kill switch.
