Digital zoom
cannot be used.
• Off is selected for Digital zoom in the setup menu.
• Digital zoom cannot be used in the following situations.
- When focus mode is set to E (manual focus)
- a (smile timer) or y (blink proof ) is being used
- When Portrait, Night portrait or Fireworks show is
selected for scene mode
- When scene auto selector is chosen
- When Multi-shot 16 is selected for Continuous
- Before movie recording begins (digital zoom of up to
2× can be applied while movies, excluding Time-lapse
movieP movies, are being recorded)
Image size not
available.
• Image size cannot be adjusted when Multi-shot 16 is
selected for Continuous.
• When ISO sensitivity is set to 3200 or 6400, or during
sport continuous mode, F 4000×3000, E 3264×2448,
D 2592×1944, I 3984×2656, G 3968×2232 and
H 2992×2992 cannot be selected.
• Image size cannot be adjusted when Continuous H (16:9)
is selected.
No sound when
shutter is released.
• Off is selected for Shutter sound of the Sound settings
option in the setup menu.
• Continuous, BSS, or Multi-shot 16 is selected for
Continuous in shooting menu.
• When any setting other than Off is selected for Auto
bracketing.
• When Museum is selected in scene mode.
• Sport continuous mode is selected.
• D mode is selected.
• Do not block the speaker.
AF-assist
illuminator does
not light.
• Off is selected for AF assist in the setup menu.
• AF-assist illuminator turns off automatically in some scene
modes.
Pictures appear
smeared.
Lens is dirty. Clean lens.
Colors are
unnatural.
White balance does not match light source.
Randomly spaced
bright pixels
(“noise”) appear in
image.
The subject is dark, so shutter speed is too slow or ISO
sensitivity is too high. Noise can be reduced by:
• Using flash.
• Specifying a lower ISO sensitivity setting.
• Applying Noise reduction in the shooting menu to suit
situations.
• Using a scene mode which has noise reduction ability.
