Items Users can Change
The Settings menu contains the Route Guidance, Map Display, Hardware, Others, PC Card, and
Background Picture Setting menus. If you select a menu name in the Settings menu, an equiva-
lent menu appears. In the menu screen, the contents of the current setting is shown on the right-
hand side of each item.
This section describes the details of the setting for each menu. Settings marked with an asterisk
(*) show that they are default or ‘factory’ settings.

■Route Guidance menu
Auto Reroute
This setting controls whether, when you stray from the guided route, the system automati-
cally recalculates the route to your destination.
Areas to Avoid
Setting or change of Areas to Avoid is performed (see “Setting Areas to Avoid” on page 75).
Route No.
This setting controls whether, during a route calculation, the system calculates one route only,
or whether it calculates several route options, one of which you select.
Fastest / Shortest
This setting controls conditions for calculating a route.
Avoid Freeway
This setting controls conditions for calculating a route. (A route using freeway may be calcu-
lated in some cases, such as when setting your destination far away.)
Avoid Ferry
This setting controls conditions for calculating a route.
Avoid Toll Road
This setting controls conditions for calculating a route.
On* : Auto Reroute function is turned on.
Off : Auto Reroute function is turned off.
1*: Route options are not shown, and only one route judged as being opti-
mum by your Navigation System is calculated.
Multiple Routes : Several route options are calculated (maximum 6 routes).
Shortest : Calculate a route with the shortest distance to your destination as a priority.
Fastest* : Calculate a route with the shortest travel time to your destination as a priority.
On* : Calculate a route that avoids freeways.
Off :
Calculate a route that may include freeways.
On : Calculate a route that avoids ferries.
Off* : Calculate a route that may include ferries.
On : Calculate a route that avoids toll roads.
Off* : Calculate a route that may include toll roads.
