1 Press [E.ZOOM] once.
2 Press [E.ZOOM] twice.
3 Press [E.ZOOM] three times.

• The picture size within the Extra optical
zoom range changes to the following. The
colour of the zoom bar and the picture
size displayed on the screen change
colour at this time.
• If you press [E.ZOOM] three times, the
zoom position returns to Wide and the
picture size returns to the original size.
Also, if the zoom position returns to the
optical zoom range by the zoom lever, the
picture size returns to the original size.
∫ When the picture size is not set to the
highest setting for each aspect ratio
e.g.: Setting to [ ] (3M EZ)
4 Press [E.ZOOM] once.
5 Press [E.ZOOM] twice.
3 Extra optical zoom
¢ This becomes 7.2k when the picture
size is [ ] (5M EZ).
• Press [E.ZOOM] firmly until the zoom
function is activated.
• The easy zoom is also activated if
[E.ZOOM] is pressed when the zoom
position is not Wide.
• You can further extend the zoom to the
digital zoom range when [D.ZOOM] (P28)
is set to [ON].
• In [ ENLARGE] in simple mode [ ],
[HIGH SENS.] (P47) in scene mode and
motion picture mode [
], the zoom
becomes up to 6 k optical zoom.
• The indicated zoom magnification is an
approximation.
A maximum of 24 k zoom can be achieved
with the 6 k optical zoom and the 4k digital
zoom when [D.ZOOM] is set to [ON] in the
[REC] mode menu. Likewise, if a picture
size that can use extra optical zoom is
selected, a maximum of 36
k zoom can be
achieved with the 9 k extra optical zoom
and the 4 k digital zoom.
∫ Menu operation
1 Press [MENU/SET].
• When a scene mode is selected, select
the [REC] mode menu icon [ ] and
then press 1.
2 Press 3 / 4 to select [D.ZOOM]
and then press 1.
3 Press 4 to select [ON] and then
press [MENU/SET].
4 Press [MENU/SET] to close the menu.
• You can also press the shutter
button halfway to close the menu.
