A—Front Axle Toe-In Distance
1. Park machine on level surface.
2. Turn steering wheel so front wheels are in the
straight-ahead position. Stop engine.
3. Measure distance (A) between tyres at hub level in
front of axle. Record measurement and mark the
tyres.
4. Move tractor back about 1 m (3 ft), so mark is at
hub level behind the axle. Again, measure distance
between tyres at same point on tyre. Record
measurement.
5. Determine the difference between front and rear
measurements. If the front measurement is smaller,
toe is “in”. If the rear is smaller, toe is “out”.
6. Distance (A) at front of tyres should be 3—6 mm
less than distance measured at rear of tyres for
CARRARO front axle and 0—2 mm for DANA front
axle. Adjust toe-in if necessary. (See procedure in
this section.)
