when Vehicle is

You have attempted to shift the transmission into park position
P although the vehicle was still in motion.
X Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
X Shift the transmission to park position P.
Shift to 'P' or 'N'
to Start Engine You have attempted to start the engine while the transmission was
in reverse gear
R or drive position D.
X Shift the transmission into park position P or neutral position
N. Make sure the brake pedal is depressed.
Auxiliary Battery
Malfunction The backup battery for the transmission is no longer charging.
X Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
