G8692 Portable Bandsaw and Stand
Cleaning your machine will extend its life and
produce better results.
Important places of the Model G8692 to keep
clean are the motor area, the blade, and the
stand. Make sure these areas are free from oil
and debris.
Always be aware of the condition of your
machine. Routinely check for the following condi-
tions and repair or replace as necessary:
•
Loose mounting bolts
•
Worn switch
•
Worn or damaged blade
•
Dirt or oil build up
•
Worn or damaged support bearings or
guide bearings
Always disconnect
power to the machine
when making adjust-
ments. Failure to do this
may result in serious
personal injury.
Blade breakage is unavoidable, in some cases,
as a natural result of the peculiar stresses placed
on bandsaw blades. Avoidable breakage is most
often the result of poor care or judgement on the
part of the operator when mounting or adjusting
the blade or support guides.
The most common causes of blade breakage
are:
•
Faulty alignment or adjustment of the guides
•
Using a blade with a lumpy or improperly fin-
ished braze or weld
•
Feeding the workpiece too fast
•
Tooth dullness or absence of sufficient set
•
Excessive or too little blade tension
•
Running the bandsaw excessively when not
resawing
•
Not releasing blade tension after use
When storing the bandsaw for long periods of
time, it is important to perform the following:
•
Release tension on the blade.
•
Store bandsaw in a safe dry place.
