Press the
button to select one of the Exposure
compensation or Backlight correction modes. Press the
button one or more times, until the icon for the exposure
compensation/backlight setting you want to use is displayed:

If you selected the Backlight correction mode
, then go to

If you selected the Exposure compensation mode
, select the
exposure value with the search dial:

Rotate the search dial in the
direction to decrease (darken)
the value or rotate the search
dial in the
direction to
increase (lighten) the value.

Compose the picture.

Focus the camera and take the picture. See “Setting the focus”
on page 26.
Tips & Tricks
The Exposure compensation setting ranges from
-2.0 EV to +2.0 EV. 0 EV is the default setting. The
larger the value, the brighter the overall image. The
smaller the value, the darker the overall image. The
currently selected value is displayed on the LCD.
