There are two styles of LS1 throttle bodies. Make sure you have the
correct throttle cable bracket for your application, as the angles are
different.
1998 – 1999 throttle bodies have a cam assembly that is approximately
3" from top to bottom.
Fig. 1 Use Lokar TCB-40LS1 or TCB-40LS12.
2000 – 2002 GM, and 2004 GTO throttle bodies have a cam assem-
bly that is approximately 3-1/2" from top to bottom.
Fig. 2 Use Lokar
part # TCB-40LS13 or TCB-40LS14.
Refer to Fig. 3 for the component names.
This throttle cable bracket is designed to be used with Lokar Throttle
and/or Cruise Control Cables (not included).
DO NOT loosen the bolt in the bottom of the Lokar throttle cable
bracket or remove the stud from the mounting base. The Lokar throttle
cable stud is precisely indexed to the base, and it can be very difficult
to get it reassembled in the correct position.
Step 1: Remove the existing throttle cable bracket from the intake
manifold.
Step 2: Install the Lokar Billet Aluminum Throttle Cable Bracket to the
mounting boss on the side of the intake manifold using the
M6 x 16mm socket head bolts. Be sure the cable mounting
stud is below the bolts.
Step 3: Remove both of the adjuster nuts from the
cable adjuster on the Lokar Throttle Cable
(not included). Install the small adjuster
nut that is supplied with the LS1 Throttle
Cable Bracket onto the cable adjuster, with
the flat side of the nut facing out towards
the new bracket. The small adjuster nut
will be easier to tighten against the stud
than the larger one.
Install the cable adjuster into the stud with
the small adjuster nut against the flat spot
on the stud. Thread the cable adjuster into
the stud until there is approximately 1/4" of
thread protruding through the stud. Tighten
the small adjuster nut against the stud.
Repeat this process for the cruise control
cable (if applicable).
Step 4: Install the Lokar Throttle Cable and Cruise
Control Cables according to the instructions
included with the Lokar cables. See
Fig. 4
and
Fig. 5 for a completed installation.
