TC-Async Mode 742 = ON: The MAXLBA for the “incompletely-used slot”
is set per block.
Mode 742 = OFF (default): The MAXLBA for the “incompletely-
used slot” is set per cylinder.
Note:
1. When performing TC-Sync or TC-Async using the
“incompletely-used slot” volume as a LUSE volume,
regardless of whether this option is On or OFF, the MAXLBA
is set per block on RCU side without exception.
2. This option is applied when the “incompletely-used slot”
volume is used.
3. In the case that if this option is turned on while the
“incompletely-used slot” volume is used, the data that has
been able to be read may not be read. Therefore, it is
required to perform the following operations when using
this option: (1) Turning on the option, (2) Micro-program
exchange, (3) Device creation, and (4) Data migration.

This option enables to change the area where the information
is obtained as the Characteristic1 item from SYMMETRIX.
Mode 745 = ON:
The area where the information is obtained as the
Characteristic1 item from SYMMETRIX is changed.
When CheckPaths or Device Health Check (1/hour) is
performed, the information of an already-mapped external
volume is updated to the one after change.
Mode 745 = OFF (default):
The area where the information is obtained as the
Characteristic1 item from SYMMTRIX is set to the default.
When CheckPaths or Device Health Check (1/hour) is
performed, the information of an already-mapped external
volume is updated to the default.
Note:
1. This option is applied when the Characteristic1 item is
displayed in symbols while the SYMMETRIX of EMC is
connected using UVM.
2. If this option needs to be activated immediately after its
setting, make sure to perform CheckPaths. But, without
doing CheckPaths, the display of Characteristic1 can
automatically be changed by the Device Health Check to be
performed once an hour.
However, if the CheckPaths is performed while
ShadowImage for z/OS pair and FlashCopy Mirror pair are
defined in the specified volume, the CheckPaths operation
is rejected with a message, “605 2518”. If ShadowImage
for z/OS pair and FlashCopy Mirror pair are defined in the
specified volume, do not perform CheckPaths and wait until
the display is automatically changed.
