Location of the fi replace and chimney will affect perfor-
mance.
• Install within the warm air space enclosed by the building
envelope. This helps to produce more draft, especially
during lighting and die-down of the fi re.
• Penetrate the highest part of the roof. This minimizes the
effects of wind loading.
• Locate termination cap away from trees, adjacent
structures, uneven roof lines and other obstructions.
• Minimize the use of chimney offsets.
• Consider
the
fi replace location relative to fl oor and ceiling
and attic joists.
• Take into consideration the termination requirements in
Section 8 and Section 9.

NOTICE: Locating the fi replace in an area of considerable
air movement can cause intermittent smoke spillage from
fi replace. Do not locate fi replace near
• frequently open doors
• central heat outlets or returns
DO NOT install in a basement.
