AutoMax Remote I/O Network
The remote I/O network can contain up to 7 drops, numbered 1 to 7. Each drop can be
either a rack or a head.
Racks
Racks consist of slots 0-15. Each slot can have up to 32 registers. A register can be
either an input register or an output register. There can be a maximum of 120 inputs and
120 outputs per rack. Input and output registers can occur in any order in a rack.
Heads
Remote I/O heads have four ports. Each port can have from 1 to 4 registers.
Heads consist of up to 16 words each of input and output data, organized as drop (1-7),
slot (0-3) and register.
There are two types of heads. On the older 57C330 heads, the location of inputs and
outputs can be identified only at runtime. On the newer 57C328 heads, the location of
inputs and outputs can be identified at configuration time.
Maximum Network Size
An AN-X-AMXRIO module can scan a network of up to 250 input words and 248 output
words. If your network is larger, you must split it into two or more networks, each
controlled by a separate AN-X-AMXRIO.
