Chapter 1 Introduction
IEEE 802.11g uses 2.4GHz unlicensed ISM band, the same as IEEE 802.11b; but it provides
almost 5 times data rate than traditional 802.11b products. WL-8310 is compliant to both
802.11b and 802.11g, but it is capable to offer much higher data rate than standard. With the
latest innovative Super G technology integrated, the maximum data rate of WL-8310 is
108Mbps, which doubles the speed of standard 802.11g. Thus makes WL-8310 more suitable
for multimedia applications which required more bandwidth.
The WL-8310 is provided with a detachable dipole antenna that can be replaced with optional
external antennas to obtain better signal quality and greater connection distances.
The WL-8310 supports both 64/128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) and Wi-Fi Protected
Access (WPA) for securing wireless network connections. The driver and utility supports most
popular operating systems: Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003. With advanced features
and high performance capability, the WL-8310 is an excellent choice for constructing a wide
range of wireless solutions.
