Quick Start Guide
Make sure your camera is fully charged by plugging the camera in with the USB Cable and USB charging block. The
camera can be used in WiFi mode on battery power for 2+ hours, or you can leave the camera plugged into the char-
ger for extended use. When the camera is connected to a PC with the USB cable, it will receive power from the comput-
er and will remain fully charged.
Remove the cap from the bottom of the camera, and then carefully remove the plastic film coving the chip by pulling
the red tab. (May need tweezers or needle nose pliers.) To keep the chip as clean as possible, be careful not to touch
the camera chip, and do not leave it exposed.
C-mount Trinocular Installation: The MiniVID can be thread-mounted onto any trinocular microscope with a C-mount
threading on top. Once the camera is mounted on the trinocular pipe of the microscope, check for “parfocality.” The
trinocular pipe should have an up/down height adjustment which allows the camera to be made “parfocal” with the
view through the binocular tubes. Check your microscope manual for instructions for this adjustment.
If you do not have a trinocular C-mount, and you have purchased the optional eyetube adapter:
Remove caps from both ends of the eyetube adapter, and screw the adapter all the way onto c-mount connection of
the camera. Remove an eyepiece from the microscope, and insert the MiniVID into the eyetube. (Optional 30mm or
30.5mm eyetube adapter may be needed for larger eyetubes.)

Connecting to PC with USB Cable
Insert the included CD into your disc tray (or download the software online at www.lwscientific.com/collections/mini-
vid/products/minivid-wifi-camera). Once disc is accessed, open and install the file labeled “Video Capture Install Ver1.0.”
This is the software that controls the MiniVID WiFi on your personal computer.
Set the MiniVID WiFi to USB mode, and then, using the included USB cable, connect the product to your PC. The Camera’s
plug and play drivers will allow Windows to automatically install the product’s drivers.
Once Windows has finished installing the camera, open the Video Capture software (by default, the installer will create a
shortcut on your desktop entitled “Video Capture”).
When the software is open, click on the blank drop down box at the top of the screen and select “Microscope” or “USB
Video Device” from the list of options. Your camera is now ready to use.
For detailed operation instructions, open the CD and click on the User Manual or go to the Help section in the MicroCam
software.
White Balance Instructions
:
Your MiniVID WiFi camera is set to automatically white balance after a few seconds of running. Therefore, you should not
have to manually adjust the white balance. However, if you find the camera’s image is inconsistent with what you see
through your eyepieces, even after the auto-adjustment, turn your Microscope’s light to full brightness, and place a white
sheet of paper beneath your 4x or 10x objectives for a few seconds. This action will reset the camera’s white balance,
ensuring that the auto-balance works properly and your camera provides the most accurate color rendering.
