NETWORK PING PROGRAM
The NetCheck program is provided as a simple tool to check the basic integrity of
an IP Network. Its main target are the XtenDD switcher networks. Connection prob-
lems between the switcher components (E--Box, Control Panel, Side Panel) are
often caused by faulty cabling (e.g. using 75 Ohm cables, connectors or termina-
tors instead of 50 Ohm components). However, with the currently available tools,
it is difficult to isolate the problems to hardware or software, because the symptoms
caused by bad cabling can be hard to recognize. Especially, if a faulty cabling still
provides a ”half--working” network (i.e. some degree of packet loss occurs), the ef-
fect will on the first look often point towards software problems.
NetCheck should be used whenever ”strange” problems occur to rule out network
faults.

USING NETCHECK
NetCheck is started by double--clicking the program icon or using the Start menu.
On startup, it will display an error message if it cannot access the network system.
This can be due to several reasons. Two of them are listed in the Installation section
above. If another error message appears, you need to check the network installa-
tion of the Windows system.
The program window looks like this:
The first action you will need to do is to start a network scan to get a list of available
hosts on the network. To do this, simply press the Scan button. Optionally, you can
limit the IP address range to be scanned before starting the scan by either entering
the first and last IP address to be scanned using the keyboard or by adjusting these
values with the arrow keys to the right of the input fields.
