3G/HD/SD SDI to HDMI Converter
Functional Description and Block Diagram
BrightEye 81 accepts a single 3G, HD, or SD SDI input, or an HD Dual Link input, as shown in the
functional block diagram below. The video signal is then deserialized and converted to HDMI. If the
input is HD Dual Link, it is converted to both 3G Dual Link and to HDMI. HDMI is output on the
HDMI 1.3 connector. When the SDI input receives 3G, HD or SD SDI, the Out 1 and Out 2 BNCs output
two identical copies of the input. When the input is HD Dual Link, using both the Link A and Link B
inputs, the HDMI output is HD 4:4:4 and two identical copies of 3G Dual Link Level B are output on the
Out 1 and Out 2 BNCs.
BrightEye 81 is powered by a 12 volt DC universal power supply. This power supply can accept an
input voltage between 90 and 230 volts, at 50 or 60 Hertz.
BrightEye 81 uses a standard IEC line cord and can be used anywhere in the world. It is normal for the
converter to be quite warm to the touch when operating.
