INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Electric Exhaust Cutout
WARNING! EXHAUST CUTOUTS MUST BE MOUNTED BEHIND / DOWNSTREAM OF THE REAR MOST OXYGEN SENSOR
IF SO EQUIPPED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
IMPORTANT! ALL34232 or ALL34233 harness (sold separately) is required for proper operation.
Installation Instructions:
1.
Bolt electric cutout onto the exhaust cutout flange making sure electric cutout is centered on the exhaust cutout flange
opening. There is a small cleaning/lubrication port on the side of the unit as marked in Figure 2. The cutout must be installed with
the port behind the butterfly valve, toward the rear or outlet side of the flange. If cutout is installed with the port in front of the
butterfly valve on the header side of the flange, there will be an exhaust leak. Please refer to Figure 1 and 2 below for proper orien-
tation and location of cleaning/lubrication port.
2.
The butterfly assembly when not used for a long period of time may become covered in carbon exhaust deposits and
become stuck in the closed position. This port allows cleaning and/or lubrication of the cutout without having to disassemble the
exhaust system. A carburetor type cleaner should be used followed by a penetration spray lubricant.
CAUTION! Only clean and/or lubricate exhaust cutout when the exhaust system is cold. DO NOT spray cleaner or lubricate
a hot exhaust system! Doing so can result in a fire!
3.
Mount the switch in the desired location. NOTE: Using the harness pigtail as a reference, the white wires from the pigtail
would identify the top or open position of the switch.
4.
Connect the black wire from the harness switch to a chassis ground or the negative battery post. Connect the yellow wire
to a 12 volt key-on ignition source such as the accessory side of the fuse block. Use only a 5 Amp fuse with this exhaust cutout.
5.
Route the harness to the electric cutout(s) making sure to stay clear of any heat source or moving parts. When routing
through any panel be sure to use a grommet to protect the harness from any sharp edges.
WARNINGS!
•
Keep away from the exhaust cutouts while activating. Failure to do so may cause bodily injury. The cutout motor is strong
enough to injure hands or fingers.
•
Do not drive vehicle off road where exhaust components may come in direct contact with grass, brush or other
flammable objects especially when cutouts are open. This could create a fire hazard.
•
It is illegal in most states to bypass emissions and exhaust systems.
•
Any alteration of the exhaust system may affect various electronic sensors and systems on some newer vehicles.
•
Release the switch immediately upon the cutout butterfly becoming fully open or fully closed. Failure to do so may cause
the fuse to blow or over load the cutout motor.
