RAID MANAGEMENT
The G4 GraniteRack can implement several different levels of RAID technology. These RAID levels are
supported by the system:
RAID Level
Description
Minimum Number of Drives
0
Block striping is provided, which yields higher
performance than with individual drives. No
redundancy.
1
1
Drives are paired and mirrored. All data is
duplicated on an equivalent drive. Fully
redundant.
2
3
Data is striped across several physical drives.
Parity protection is used for data redundancy.
3
5
Data is striped across several physical drives.
Parity protection is used for data redundancy
3
6
Data is striped across several physical drives.
Parity protection is used for data redundancy.
Requires N+2 drives to implement because of
two-dimensional parity scheme.
4
0 + 1
Combinations of RAID levels 0 and 1. This level
provides striping and redundancy through
mirroring.
