warmth of the scanner could cause your original to deteriorate.

Do not operate the scanner when the surrounding temperature
falls below 50

Keep food and liquid away from the scanner.
Cleaning the Scanner
It is recommended that you keep the document cover closed
whenever you’re not using the scanner to prevent dust and other
particles from collecting on the glass plate.
To clean the Scanner:
Unplug the scanner from your computer.
Spray any household glass cleaner onto a soft, clean, lint-
free cloth and then gently wipe the glass window.
CAUTION: Do not spray directly onto any part of the scanner, as
the components inside could be harmed.
Wipe the body of the scanner with a moist towel and mild
detergent.
Dry the scanner with a lint-free cloth.
CAUTION: Do not used any abrasive or ammonia-based cleaning
products on the scanner.
