Politip
Instructions for Use
Description
Politip is an effective two-step polishing system for finishing
and polishing dental composite and amalgam restorations. The
polishers of the Politip system are available in the following
three shapes: flame, small cup and large cup.
Composition
The polishers consist of silicone rubber, silicon carbide particles
and titanium oxide.
The shanks are made of stainless steel.
Indication
Politip is indicated for the finishing and polishing of restorations
made of composite material and amalgam.
Contraindications
If a patient is known to be allergic to any of the above compo-
nents, the polishers should not be used.
Side effects
None known to date.
Application
– 1
st Step: Finishing with Politip F (grey)
With the Politip F finisher, excess material is removed and
the restoration surfaces are smoothed.
– 2 nd Step: Polishing with Politip P (green)
With Politip P the restoration can be polished to a high-gloss
finish.
The restoration is finished and polished at medium contact
pressure (approx. 2N). The finishing and polishing procedure is
performed under water cooling, which also ensures evacuation
of polishing residue.
If excess material has already been removed with fine-grit dia-
mond grinding tools or the surface of the restoration has been
finished with this type of instruments, the first step (Politip F)
can be omitted.
