Observe the note accompanying the IPS Ceramic Etching
Gel.
Etch the internal surfaces of the IPS Empress 2
framework ceramics for 20 seconds using
IPS Ceramic Etching Gel.
Etching
Etching the internal surfaces is necessary for all IPS Empress
restorations. This procedure increases the shear bond
strength between the IPS Empress material and the
composite cement.The fracture resistance of the restoration
is also increased.
Cementation
Restorations fabricated with the IPS Empress 2 / IPS Eris
for E2 layering technique may be cemented with either
the adhesive cementation technique (Variolink II) or
conventional glass-ionomer cements.
– Cements with higher expansion rates must not be used (e.g.
hybrid ionomer cements).
– Restorations fabricated in the IPS Empress staining
technique or the IPS Empress layering technique must be
cemented using the adhesive technique.
