1.1 Introduction
The Comtech EF Data (CEFD) CMR-5940 Digicast PID Filter RS-422 – referred to
throughout this manual as the CMR-5940 – receives an MPEG-2 Asynchronous Serial
Interface (ASI) input and outputs an MPEG-2 RS-422 stream that has been filtered,
Program Clock Reference (PCR) restamped, and the egress rate is adjusted to the user’s
desired configured rate.
The CMR-5940 provides unparalleled price versus performance, and is currently the most
economical ASI-to-RS-422 conditioning device available.
1.2 Standard

Based on an embedded architecture utilizing a Freescale MPC859 CPU and eCOS
Operating System, the CMR-5940 provides the following features:
