Operation

Connecting the SCSI ID Selector Switch

NOTE: The SCSI ID selector switch is not required. The SCSI

ID can be set by with the hard drive jumpers. Refer to hard

drive documentation for details.

The CRU DataPort 5, 5+ and 6 SCSI carriers have a SCSI ID selec-

tor dial switch which allows the user to externally set the drive

SCSI ID number. The selector switch is connected to the SCSI ID

selector header on the drive by a BCD cable. To connect the BCD

cable use the following directions.

1. Locate the SCSI ID selector header on the hard drive and re-

move the jumpers. Refer to the drive documentation to locate

the SCSI ID selector header.

2. For narrow SCSI devices see diagram 1. For 68-pin wide SCSI

devices seen diagram 2.

DataPort 5, 5+ and 6 LED Functions

The green LED on the DataPort 5 and 5+ will light up when the

DataPort is locked and powered up. The green LED will blink

when the fan is not functioning. The red LED is the drive activity

LED and will flash when there is drive activity.

Fan Alarm

The DataPort 5+ and 6 have a fan alarm that will sound if the

fan no longer functions properly. The alarm can be silenced by

removing the jumper between the fan and the alarm on the back

of the DataPort frame. Save the jumper and re-install it after re-

placing the fan. Please contact CRU to obtain a replacement fan.
