USBportonthecomputer.
b.PlugtheACAdapterintotheACadapterportonthefrontofthecarrierandthenplugthe
otherendintoapoweroutlet.
c.InserttheDE50drivecarrier(soldseparately)intothedockingstationbycarefullysliding
thecarrierrearwarduntilthecarriermateswiththedockingstation.Thedockingstation
willautomaticallypowerthedrive.
Your DE50 USB-to-IDE Docking Station is now ready to use! If the hard drive is already
formatted,thedockingstationcanbeusedrightaway.Iftheharddriveisbrandnew,orits
formatisnotcompatiblewithyourcomputer,thedrivewillneedtobeformattedbeforebeing
used. Refer to your operating system’s online documentation for formatting instructions.
3. Removing the Carrier from the Docking Station
MacOS X:Unmountthevolumefromthecomputerbeforeremovingthecarrierfromthe
dockingstationbydraggingthevolume’sicontothetrashbin,orbyselectingthevolume
thenpressingCommand-E.Thenslidethecarrieroutfromthedockingstation.
Windows:Unmountthevolumefromthecomputerbeforeremovingthecarrierfromthe
dockingstationbysingle-clickingthegreenarrowicononthetaskbar(inWindowsXP)or
theUSBplugiconwiththegreencheckmarkonthetaskbar(WindowsVistaandWindows
7).Thenselecttheproperdevicefromthemenuthatpopsup.Windowswillindicatewhen
itissafetoremovethecarrier.Toremove,slidethecarrieroutfromthedockingstation.
