MEMORY CARDS FOR DATA RETRIEVAL
A1.1 INTRODUCTION
The default WinIaq installation allows PCMCIA “memory cards” to be plugged
into the MICROTHERM control unit in order to augment the internal logging
capacity, thereby allowing faster logging intervals to be used or more
parameters to be logged and still be able to leave the unit unattended for the
required period.
These memory cards can be used in conjunction with a “card reader” to transfer
the data directly into a computer running the WinIaq application. However:
¤
The memory cards must be cleared of all data before they can be used
to extract further data from a control unit.
¤
The data copied from the control unit onto the memory card is not
then erased from the control unit and if the control unit is moved to
another site then the old information will remain until overwritten
again.
In order to circumvent these two points and to use memory cards as a method
of data retrieval the WinIcs program control file command.cmd has been
modified to alter the behaviour of the control unit when used in conjunction with
memory cards.
A1.2 INSTALLATION
This modification is supplied as a single file command.cmd which the user must
copy into the directory containing the WinIaq application file winiaq.exe.
It is recommended that the existing command.cmd file be renamed
command.old before copying the new file across.
As with the original distribution disk this disk should be kept in a safe/secure
location as backup against loss/corruption of the installed version.
