Rampali Stitch
This stitch can be used as a decorative edge or for
couching.
Set machine as shown.
Couching
Couching is an embroidery technique in which
stitches are sewn over cording, yarn or braid.
Borders and edges may be made more attractive
by couching a decorative yarn or braid with an
open-spaced stitch pattern, or by using the twin
needle.
Open stitch patterns include the Blindstitch, “M”
Stitch,Rampart stitch and Zig-Zag stitch.
They are most appropriate for couching, since they
let the decorative cord show as part of the work.
The RAMPART STITCH can also be used to
decorate a boy’s cap.
