How to Sew an Overlook Blind Hem
• The excess fabric is trimmed and the hem is sewn
and the raw edges are overlooked in one operation.
• The overlook blind hem is best suited for sewing
knit wear. It provides a durable finish that is almost
invisible.
•
Remove the left needle and adjust machine for a
narrow 3-thread overlook stitch.
Note; The three-thread flatlock stitch can also be
used.
• Set the stitch length dial at 4.
• Fold the hem to the wrong side of the fabric, then
back to the right side with 6mm (1/4") beyond the
fold.
•
Stitch on the extended hem edge, allowing the
machine needle to barely catch the edge of the fold.
How to Sew Pin Tucks
• Sew decorative pin tucks on the fabric before cutting
out the garment.
• Remove the left needle and adjust machine for a
narrow 3-thread overlook stitch.
Note; The rolled hem stitch can also be used for
this technique.
• Place the movable upper knife in the nonworking
position (page 25).
• Mark the fabric with the desired number of pin tucks
using a water soluble fabric marker.
