must be on for at least 6 hours after an extended

“power off’ interval before compressor may be
restarted.

Time Guard® Circuit — To prevent compressor
short-cycle, timer prevents compressor from start­

ing for about 5 minutes after shutdown for any

reason. After thermostat closes, compressor will

start in 15 seconds. See unit label diagram for
timer sequence chart for particular unit.

Charging the System
UNITS 50BA — Units are shipped with

operating charge. If recharging is necessary:

1. Insert thermometer bulb in insulating rubber

sleeve on liquid line near filter-drier. Add

pressure gage to discharge line near compressor.

3. If subcooling is low, add charge. If subcooling is

high, remove charge.

UNITS 50BB — Units are shipped with holding
charge only. Open suction and discharge line service

valves. Blow holding charge, evacuate and leak test

system. Using standard refrigerant charging tech­

niques, add amount of refrigerant required to main­

tain operating conditions using charging chart (Fig.

8 or Fig. 9).
