1. Make sure the magazine is removed and the pistol is empty.

2. Check the tension of the recoil spring and the smoothness of
the slide (no binding).
- Draw back slide to the stop and allow it to fly forward.
- Verify the slide moves fully forward with sufficient energy.
- Repeat the verification test.

3. Check the double-action trigger (DA).
- With hammer decocked, pull trigger fully rearward.
- Check that hammer cocks and that at the end of trigger travel,
the hammer falls, strikes the firing pin firmly and comes to rest in
the safety intercept notch.

4. Check trigger travel and trigger interruption.
- With hammer decocked and trigger held fully rearward, retract
slide fully and release it.
- Check that hammer remains in its cocked position
(not applicable to DAO pistols - hammer must drop forward and
lock in the safety intercept notch).

5. Check single action trigger function (not applicable in DAO)
- Release trigger.
- Check that trigger bar resets and hammer drops when the trigger
is pulled again.

6. Check decocking lever and safety intercept notch function.
- Cock hammer and depress decocking lever (not applicable to
DAO pistols).
- Check that hammer falls into the safety intercept notch before
reaching the firing pin and trigger returns to the double action
(rest) position.

7. Check (internal) slide catch lever.
- Insert empty magazine, retract slide fully and release.
- Verify the slide remains locked in the open position.
- Remove magazine.
