Installation & Operating Instructions

WARNING

Safety Information for the Installer
1. Always read all warnings and installation instruc-

tions before attempting to install this fireplace.

2. Always use a qualified installer, preferably NFI or

WETT (Canada) certified, to install this fireplace
in compliance with local building codes and with
current CSA B149.1 Installation Codes for Gas
Burning Appliances and Equipment. For USA In-
stallations, always comply with local codes and/or
the current National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/
NFPA 54.

3. This appliance may be installed in an aftermarket

permanently located manufactured home or mo-
bile home, where not prohibited by local codes.

4. Never install this fireplace in any room or other

location where a water source is present.

5. Always operate this fireplace with the type of gas

designated on the rating plate. Never attempt to
use any other type of gas, unless a certified con-
version kit has first been installed.

6. Always provide this direct vent fireplace with

its own separate vent pipe system that passes
through a wall or roof and terminates outside
the structure. Never connect this fireplace to an
existing chimney flue which concurrently serves
another fireplace, to prevent the risk of carbon
monoxide poisoning.

Safety Information for the User

1. Always read all warnings and operating instruc-

tions before attempting to use this fireplace.

2. This fireplace is extremely hot when in use. Never

touch the unit, and never attempt to perform any
routine maintenance while it is in operation or
before it has cooled to room temperature.

3. Never operate the fireplace while it is unattended.

Extreme caution is necessary if either children or
disabled persons are present.

4. Always keep combustible materials, including fur-

niture, pillows, bedding, clothes, curtains, drapes
and paper, at least 3 feet (914 mm) away from the
front of this fireplace when it is in use.

5. Never operate the fireplace if it has malfunctioned

and has not yet been serviced, or if it has been
exposed to water or damaged in any manner and
has not yet been fully repaired.

6. Never attempt to operate this direct vent fireplace

if the front glass panel is missing, open, cracked
or broken, as carbon monoxide poisoning could
result. Always use a qualified service technician
to replace a faulty glass panel and always install a
replacement glass panel that has been approved
by the CFM Corporation.

7. Never attempt to modify this fireplace in any way.

Always replace any components that have been
removed for servicing prior to attempting to oper-
ate the fireplace again.

8. Never store or use gasoline or other volatile sub-

stances in the vicinity of the fireplace.

9. Never use this fireplace as a drying rack for cloth-

ing, and never hang Christmas stockings or deco-
rations on or near it.

10.Never use this fireplace for any purpose or in any

manner not expressly set forth in this manual. Any
use not specifically intended by the manufacturer
may create a fire hazard or cause damage to the
fireplace.

11.Never place any solid fuel, such as wood, coal,

paper or cardboard, in this fireplace.

12.Always turn the gas valve to the OFF position

when the fireplace is not in use.

13.Never obstruct the flow of combustion and ven-

tilation air in any way. This direct vent fireplace
requires adequate ventilation and combustion air
to operate properly.

14.Always keep the control compartments, burners

and air passages in this fireplace clean and free
of dust and lint. Periodic inspection and cleaning
may be required, due to excess dust and lint from
carpeting and bedding. Always confirm that the
gas valve and pilot light are turned OFF, before
you attempt to clean this fireplace.

15.Always use a qualified service technician to

inspect this fireplace and the venting system
(chimney) for this fireplace at least once a year. If
needed, the venting system should be cleaned at
that time.

16.Always use a qualified technician or service

agency to perform any repairs to this fireplace.
