9. Visually inspect to ensure the chamber is clear
of a live round. Operate the slide several times
to assure proper assembly has been achieved.
10. Close the slide and pull the trigger to release
the striker.
11. Insert empty magazine.

5. Push slide back until the barrel lug is aligned
with the slide stop pin hole in the frame.
6. Partially insert slide stop into slide stop hole.
7. Push slide back until the slide disassembly
notch is aligned with the slide stop tab (Figure
21).
8. Press slide stop inward until fully seated and
release slide (Figure 21/1d and 2d). Be certain
that the slide stop has picked up the retention
spring located on the frame (Figure 21/3d).
Failure to install the slide stop below the
spring will cause the slide to lock open while
firing.
