7 .2 .2 External reference
For dependable reference measurements the External reference and Transflectance adapter must be
clean and damage free.
For cleaning, use abrasion-resistant precision cloths (e.g. Kimwipes from Kimberly-Clark). If
substances still adhere, you may additionally rinse the surfaces with alcohol.
NOTE
The External reference is sensitive to scratches. External referencing can only be performed manu-
ally via the Operator, not with the NIRMaster Operator software. Therefore for all NIRMaster Operator
applications the external referencing must be set to ‘interval’!
Do not drop the External reference! •
Never bring it in contact with hard objects. •
Do not use any cleaning media with abrasive character which might scratch the surface. •
Do not use item for reference measurement when damaged or scratched. •
7 .2 .3 Add-ons and custom sample vessels
Many sample vessels made of glass only, such as Petri dishes, can be cleaned in a washer with stan-
dard detergents. However, all BUCHI add-ons can be rinsed and cleaned with Meliseptol® liquid or
spray by B.Braun (disinfectants on alcohol basis).

NOTE
Spray-disinfection should be used in addition to surface disinfection with wipes only!
7 .3 How to perform a database backup
The operator is responsible for data backup. BUCHI recommends frequent backups with an advanced
backup strategy such as monthly, weekly and daily snapshots on independent data storages.
