Cleaning
Probe window: If this part of the device becomes soiled with dust or cerumen, clean
with a cotton swab slightly moistened with alcohol and wipe dry with a separate
cotton swab. Allow 5 minutes drying time. Do not use any chemical other than
alcohol.
Device: Use a soft cloth slightly moistened with alcohol to clean the display and
exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners and do not submerge.

Defaults
The device is shipped with °F as the default temperature scale. To change to °C:
-
with the device OFF, press and hold the I/O button
-
after about 3 seconds, the device will show the sequence: °F/SET/°C/SET
-
release the I/O button when it reaches the °C
-
there will be a short beep to confirm the setting
-
this setting will remain until the above steps are repeated to change to °F.

Evaluate technique
Correct probe placement is essential for accurate readings. Aim the probe tip in the
direction of the tympanic membrane. It may help to picture an imaginary line from
the ear to the opposite temple.
