cutter pre-operation Inspection/service continued
• Perform scheduled lubrication as detailed in the maintenance section.
• ensure all decals are in place and legible.
• ensure the driveline is securely attached to tractor. make sure the driveline yoke locking collar is
securely seated in the grooves of the PtO shaft by pushing and pulling the yoke several times.
• ensure deflectors and/or chainguards are in position and not damaged. Replace worn, broken,
and missing pieces.
• Inspect all bolts and screws and tighten to the recommended torque.
• ensure the driveline integral shield is in good condition and rotates freely.
• ensure the driveline slip clutch (if equipped) is properly adjusted.
• Inspect the gearbox oil level. a low oil level is a warning sign that the gearbox may be cracked or
its seal is damaged and needs replacement.
• ensure the gearbox vent is in place and free from clogs.
• Inspect blades and blade bolts for looseness and excessive wear. make sure the cutter is securely
blocked up before crawling beneath. Replace damaged, worn and missing blades as complete
sets to maintain rotary balance during operation.
• ensure carrier hub nut is tightened with the cotter pin inserted and spread.
all Safety Shields, Guards and Safety devices should be used and maintained in good working
condition. all safety devices should be inspected carefully at least daily for missing or broken
components. missing, broken, or worn items must be replaced at once to reduce the possibility
of injury or death from thrown objects, entanglement, or blade contact.
