Shooting – The Basics
Digital Zoom
Images can be zoomed with the combined
optical and digital zoom functions as follows.
z 2.8x, 3.5x, 4.4x, 5.4x, and 7.0x

Press the DISP. button to turn the
LCD monitor on.

In the [ (Rec.)]
menu, select
(Digital Zoom).
z See Selecting Menus
and Settings (p. 62).

Select [On] using or and
press the MENU button.
Shooting Mode

Press the zoom button’s .
z The lens will zoom to the maximum optical
telephoto setting and stop. Press
again to
further zoom the image digitally.
z Press the zoom button’s to zoom back out.

Shoot the image.
z Shooting procedures are the same as for the
Auto Mode (p. 31).
The digital zoom cannot be used when the
LCD monitor is off.
z Images become coarser the more they
are digitally zoomed.
z Since camera shake may become a
factor when using the digital zoom, the
use of a tripod is recommended.
The combined
magnifications of the
optical zoom and digital
zoom are displayed.
