MAINTENANCE/SERVICE
GREASING THE HEADER AND CONDITIONER
See "Recommended Lubricants" in this section for
recommended greases.
The following greasing points are marked on the
header by decals showing a grease gun (A), and
grease interval (B) in hours of operation. Use the
hour meter in the windrower cab and the
"Maintenance Checklist" provided to keep a record
of scheduled maintenance.
Procedure:
1. Wipe grease fitting with a clean cloth before
greasing, to avoid injecting dirt and grit.
2. Inject grease through fitting with grease gun
until grease overflows fitting, except where
noted. Inject grease slowly to prevent seal
damage.
3. Leave excess grease on fitting to keep out dirt.
4. Replace any loose or broken fittings
immediately.
5. If fitting will not take grease, remove and clean
thoroughly. Also clean lubricant passageway.
Replace fitting if necessary.
10 Hours or Daily:
1. Cross-Shaft Center Support Bearing (D)
- one fitting on Double Sickle Header
25 Hours
1. Sickle Head (C) - single sickle: one fitting
- double sickle: two fittings
NOTE: If more than 6 to 8 pumps of the grease
gun are required to fill the cavity, replace the seal
in the sickle head. When changing seal, check pin
and needle bearing for wear. Replace if necessary.
See page 45.
