Switch the answering machine ON/OFF
using the base
1. Press and release to switch ON or OFF.
If you hear “Answer on, your outgoing message is....”
the answering machine is switched on and is ready to
answer incoming calls and record any messages.
The display on the base shows the number of messages
stored in the memory.
If you hear “Answer off” the answering machine is
switched off.
The display on the base unit will flash between a dash
and the number of messages saved in the memory.

using the handset
1. Press or until display shows Answer Off On . The
current status is highlighted.
2. If you want to change the status, press either the OFF or
ON option button. Your chosen setting will be
announced and the display will return to standby.

If you have selected Answer Only
mode the caller will hear an
advisory announcement only, and
will not be able to leave a message,
see page 42.
The only option available is to
toggle the setting, i.e. if the
machine is set to Answer on you
can only change to Answer off and
this change of setting only will be
announced.
