Cleaning the print head
You should clean the print head:
m when you replace an ink cartridge
m if you notice problems with print quality, especially horizontal white lines
IMPORTANT Cleaning the print head consumes a small amount of ink. If you
repeat the procedure unnecessarily, you reduce the life of the cartridges.
To clean the print head, follow these steps:
1 When you are about to print a document, click Utilities in the Print dialog box.
The Print Utilities dialog box opens.
2 Click to place an X in the box labeled “Clean the print head before printing.”
3 Click OK.
4 Click Print.
The printer cleans the print head before printing your document.
Note: After the printer cleans the ink cartridge and prints your document, the
cleaning option is automatically turned off. You don’t have to turn it off before
printing again.
