Mifare 1K tags have 768 bytes of memory divided into 16 (sixteen) 48-bytes long sectors. Every sector is divided
into 3 (three) 16-bytes long blocks

Communication diagram
The following diagram shows what needs to be done in order to read the contents of a Mifare 1K tag:
Terminal
BRRT or BDR Reader
b)
Data sent from the terminal to the reader
First of all, the terminal needs to send to the reader a Read data command to the reader. This command is
described in the communication protocol guide of the reader; its code ID is 0x81. In this case, the format of the
command will be as follows (in hexadecimal):
DE 00 07 81 00 00 1E 02 00 FF
where:
-
DE: prefix
-
00 07: data length (7 bytes will follow)
-
81: command ID
-
00 00: protocol mask (it’s best to specify 00 00 for Mifare cards)
-
1E: timeout for the response (30s)
-
02: card type (02 means Mifare 1K)
-
00 FF: start/stop sectors/pages (00 FF means read the whole memory)
