Fault

Possible cause

Solution

The machine does not turn on.

Machine not connected to the power supply.

Connect the machine to the power supply.

The pump is very noisy.

Water tank empty.

Refi ll with water (Section 4.4).

All buttons are fl ashing.

Water circuit needs priming.

Prime the circuit as described in Section
4.5.

The coff ee is too cold.

The portafi lter is not inserted for preheating
(Section 5).

Preheat the portafi lter.

Cold cups.

Preheat the cups with hot water.

Milk does not froth.

It is not possible to prepare a
cappuccino.

Not suitable milk: powdered milk, low-fat milk. Use whole milk.

The cappuccinatore is dirty.

Clean the cappuccinatore as described in
Section 9.

No steam in the boiler.

Prime the circuit (section 4.5) and repeat
the procedure described in Section 8.

The coff ee is dispensed too fast,
no foam builds up.

Too little coff ee in the portafi lter.

Add coff ee (Section 5).

Coff ee ground is too coarse.

Use a diff erent blend (Section 6).

Coff ee is old or not suitable.

Use a diff erent blend (Section 6).

Old or not suitable pod.

Change the pod.

Insert the portafi lter correctly (Section 5).

The upper edge of the portafi lter is dirty.

Clean the rim of the portafi lter.

The gasket of the boiler is dirty or worn.

Clean the gasket.

Pod wrongly inserted.

Insert the pod correctly. Make sure it does
not come out of the portafi lter.

Too much coff ee in the portafi lter.

Reduce the quantity of coff ee using the
measuring scoop.
