Scroll to one of the following options, then press

Available
: others see your status as online and you receive availability
information and messages from others.
Do not disturb
: even though others see your status as online, you do not
receive availability information and messages from others.
Appear offline
: even though others see your status as offline, you receive
availability information and messages from others.
Instant messages
You can send instant messages to any other instant message participant if
you have the person’s user name. You can add that person to your contact list
during an instant messaging session. See Add a new contact during instant
messaging for instructions.
Write and send instant messages

From the
IM
menu, scroll to
My contacts
and press
Select
.

Press
Options
; then scroll to
Write message
and press
Select
.
The
User ID
screen appears.

Enter the user name of the person to whom you want to send an instant
message.

Press
Options
, and select
OK
.
The message view appears with the recipient’s name inside the input
window.
